Count me in as one of those people that is frustrated by my health at the beginning of the new year.

I have noticed clothes getting tighter, belly sticking out more, and an overall lack of being able to focus. Of course like most things it happens gradually over time until one day until it hits us in the face, I am seriously thinking about reading the Mayo Clinic Diet reviews by the Diet Dynamo, many friends have recommended.

The last one is frustrating because often if I’m needing to read something and want to really focus, in ten seconds my mind will automatically start to wander.

I also have felt that my thinking hasn’t been clear. I don’t know what word to use except it feels fuzzy. Not a great feeling when it comes to work.

I took a 10 day trip to Taiwan and Thailand (two different countries and not the same) and on the way back home I made a commitment to come back and change my health. With the help of The Medical Negligence Experts I was able to get some of my money back from doctors who have given me the wrong treatment.

The main thing is cutting back on the amount of sugar I eat and exercising.

In this episode, I talk more about what I’m doing to get healthier and get my focus back.

Do you feel like you never have any free time? You’re already busy and you can’t imagine how you have any extra time to exercise, work on a side hustle, read, or have a morning routine.

Every day you feel busy, but you also feel like you’re not getting anything productive done.

You just wish you had more time.

What you have to understand is that you’re not going to suddenly have free time. Even if you do find yourself with free time, you’re going to fill it with something easy like checking Facebook, watching TV, or doing unproductive busy work.

If that is you, you have to approach it a different way.

I’ve learned that if I wanted to get anything done, I had to make time for it. It had to be done around the same time every day so that I wouldn’t question when i do it.

Because when you come home from a long day at work, have dinner with the family, and put the kids to bed you’re going to be exhausted. When faced with what to do, it’s going to be so easy to turn on the TV and find something to watch.

However if you’ve scheduled that time to work on your side hustle for an hour, then that’s what you have to stick with. That is your time and it’s your choice what you’re going to do.

Are you a patient person? Are you willing to wait an hour for your dinner to be cooked and come out? Do you love sitting in traffic jams and having it take 30 minutes to get somewhere that normally takes 5 minutes?

We don’t like to wait. We want to get to where we’re going faster. We want our internet to be fast. We order food and want it out as soon as possible.

When I order a package from Amazon.com, waiting more than 2 days is too long.

This is how our expectations are, but when we expect changes to happen to ourselves and our life situations just as quick, we become disappointed. If it doesn’t happen as quickly as we hope, we give up.

What you need more of in 2017 isn’t knowledge, skills, hard work, or resources. All those are important, but what you need first is patience. If you don’t have patience then you will never finish what you start. You will always start and give up too soon.

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a great 2016 and definitley hope you have an even better 2017.

If you’re like most people you’re thinking about what you want to change and improve this year. You make a mental note of it.

I used to do this, but I have stopped making New Year’s resolutions since 2011.

The simple reason was it wasn’t working. I would always fail. I would always end up making the same ones year after year. If it wasn’t working at all, then I decided to not waste my time making them.

Since I’ve stopped making them, I’ve seen huge changes in my personal and business life.

In today’s podcast I’m going to share why I don’t believe in resolutions and give you suggestions on how to approach making change this year.

Imagine if you had a square block and you’re trying to fit it into a round hole. The size of the hole is roughly the same size of the block. You keep trying to push it in, but of course it doesn’t go in. You try to put it in from a different angle. You think maybe a different side will work. Still it doesn’t go in.

You push it really hard through thinking the force will squeeze the cube inside the round hole. Doesn’t help at all.

How long would it take for the square block to finally go through the round hole? It’ll never go in the way it is.

This is what we try to do when we try to get the result we want. We try to force our way in. We keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect different results. We think, somehow, that by the power of a miracle the block will go right in.

That’s gotta stop.

Let’s go back to the example. How can you fit the square block into the round hole? You have to try a different way.

So you get some tools and cut away the corners. You try to fit it in and it’s better but still not going in. So you keep chipping away at the block until it finally fits into the round hole.

In today’s episode, I talk about how valuable this advice was to me and how to apply it to your own life.

For most of my adult life, I have never been one to wake up early. I worked in the restaurant business which didn’t mean 9-5. For me it meant, 11-11. 

So I never needed to get up early. That was one of the only things I liked about my job.

When I began working for myself, the habit of waking up late stayed with me. I didn’t like it though.

I always felt my mornings went by so quickly. I would get up around 9-10am. I’d do unproductive things and next thing I know it’s lunch time. The days just went by so fast.

I wanted to get up earlier so I’d have more time for myself. I didn’t want to waste my mornings.

That was easier said than done.

I tried setting my alarm earlier but all I’d do is immmediately turn it off. When I was able to get up earlier, I’d be so tired all day until I took a nap.

So I’d go back to my old ways and constantly complain about it to my wife.

Last year, I decided to finally do something about it. I was tired of hearing myself complain. I wanted to see what I need to do to wake up earlier and feel more awake when I did.

Six months later, I’ve been able to stick to a habit of waking up earlier. Now I wake up around 7am most days without an alarm clock. I don’t wake up and feel groggy all morning either.

In today’s podcast episode, I would like to share some practical steps that I have used that have helped me wake up earlier and feel more awake.
