Have Read More Books This Year than Last 5 Years Combined

I have not kept track but my point is I have read more books this year than any year that I can remember. I think I can pinpoint this surge in interest. It started when I read a book called “The Compound Effect” by Darren Hardy. He talked about making small changes in your and doing those positive habits everyday and in the long run, you will become a better person.

So I started reading more self-help books. Motivational and inspirational books. Then I found books that I found interesting like business books, film entertainment books and a fascinating book about Aron Rolston, who got his arm stuck on a boulder for 5 days and finally cut it off.

I am drawn towards non-fiction books. I haven’t read a single Harry Potter book. Maybe I’m missing out? I have read some fiction in the past but I like learning so that’s why I think read more non-fiction.

Thankfully I’ve learned to love my local library. I have an iPad but I still love the feel of books in my hand when I’m reading. The library has saved me so much money instead of buying all these books I want to read.

It’s just about feeding my brain with clean water (books) instead of dirty water (gossip and news). I still dabble in the latter but I’m trying to keep it to a minimum. I do feel better about engrossing myself into a good book more often now.
